What do I need to renew my Nevada Real Estate license?
Use this guide to understand Nevada continuing education requirements, renewal deadlines, live-instruction requirements, and the online renewal process.
Before You Renew
Requirements and fees may change. Always verify your individual license and education requirements directly with the Nevada Real Estate Division (NRED) before submitting your renewal.
Renewal Requirements at a Glance

Certain first-time salespersons who are exempt from Post-Licensing must complete 36 hours of Continuing Education instead.
Salesperson Renewal Requirements
For subsequent renewals, Nevada salespersons must complete 36 hours of Continuing Education, including:
- 3 hours — Agency
- 6 hours — Contracts
- 3 hours — Ethics
- 3 hours — Law and Legislation
- 3 hours — Risk Reduction
- 18 hours — General Education
Live Instruction Requirement
At least 18 of the required 36 hours must be completed through live instruction.
Broker & Broker-Salesperson Renewal Requirements
Brokers and Broker-Salespersons must complete 36 hours of Continuing Education, including:
- 3 hours — Agency
- 6 hours — Contracts
- 3 hours — Ethics
- 3 hours — Law and Legislation
- 3 hours — Risk Reduction
- 6 hours — Broker Management
- 12 hours — General Education
Live Instruction Requirement
At least 18 of the required 36 hours must be completed through live instruction.
Property Management & Business Broker Permits
Property Management Permit
Property Management permit holders must complete 9 hours of Property Management Continuing Education.
Business Broker Permit
Business Broker permit holders must complete 3 hours of Business Broker Continuing Education.
These permit-specific hours must be included in the applicable renewal education and correctly identified on the course certificates.
Important: Property Management and Business Broker permits renew at the same time as the associated Nevada real estate license.
How to Renew Your Nevada Real Estate License
Follow these steps when preparing for renewal:
- Check your license status and expiration date using NRED’s License Lookup.
- Complete all required education before renewing an active license.
- Have your certificates, course numbers, completed hours, and course designations ready.
- Begin your online renewal no earlier than 45 days before your license expiration date.
- Sign in using your license number without leading zeroes. Include the period after the license prefix, such as S.12345.
- Your password is generally the last four digits of your Social Security number.
- Complete the renewal application and pay the applicable renewal fee.
NRED’s online renewal system generally accepts Visa and Mastercard credit or debit cards.
Important Renewal Reminders
Keep these points in mind before submitting your renewal:
- Online renewal is generally available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Your renewal must be completed before 11:59 p.m. on your expiration date.
- There is no grace period for online renewal.
- An expired license cannot be renewed online.
- Online renewal cannot be used to change a license from inactive to active.
- If your brokerage or business information has changed, you may need to renew in person.
- Keep copies of all Continuing Education certificates in case NRED requests proof.
- Property Management and Business Broker permits may close if they are not renewed with the associated license.
Inactive Licenses
Inactive licenses must still be renewed, and the applicable renewal fee must be paid.
NRED does not require Continuing Education certificates to be submitted with an inactive renewal. However, education and reinstatement requirements may apply before the license can be returned to active status.
Reduced Continuing Education Exemption
Licensees who are:
- At least 65 years old, and
- Have been licensed in Nevada in good standing for at least 30 years
may apply for reduced Continuing Education requirements.
This exemption is not automatic.
Additional requirements include:
- At least 50% of the reduced education requirement must be completed through live instruction.
- Property Management and Business Broker permit holders must still complete all required permit-specific education.

What is the Experience Advantage package, and do I qualify?
Licensees who are 65 or older and have been licensed in Nevada for 30 years or more.
Licensees who are 65 years or older and have been licensed in Nevada in good standing for 30 years or more may apply for an exemption to complete a reduced number of CE credits required for renewal:
